Formaggio's

Formaggio's is a great place to start your cool down after a hard working day. Formaggio has 2 locations- one in Kailua and one in Honolulu. I love the Honolulu location, on the bottom of Market City Shopping Center, in between Ben Franklin and Fujioka's Wine Shop. Parking is a little difficult, as the spaces fill up fast. Might take a bit of waiting and a drive-around to find a space. Just be patient, Formaggio's is worth it!

Prices are a little high, but if you have a few bucks to spare, this place is a must-try. Their menu is full of rich, delicious entrees that are nice to share, and they also have a section on wines with a description of each. Nice for amateurs like myself :P

Smoked Salmon Carpaccio- this is good with the half baguette!
Topped with onions, capers and lemon.

I love this sweet sparkling Sake! It's called something like Ho Ho Shou,
and you can buy it right next door at Fujioka's or Tamura's in Kaimuki.
It's a very nice, light alternative to wine if you aren't in the mood.

Wild Mushroom Pizza- with white TRUFFLE OIL!!!
If you love mushrooms (and truffle oil!!!) as much as I do, this is awesome!

This is a must-get! Lobster Bisque with "tender morsels of Maine Lobster, brandy and cream."
See what I mean about rich. But this is SO creamy and delicious.
Ask for some bread (half baguette is $2.79, yeah it costs money...) and dip it in the soup!
DELECTABLE!

Escargot- mediocre. REALLY oily.

Caprese- pretty colors of vine-ripened tomatoes, mozzarella, basil,
sweet basil pesto, and 18 year balsamic vinegar.
I love caprese, and you pretty much can't go wrong with this dish.
