The Fat Greek (Kaimuki)

I love me some good Greek food every once in awhile! So far, I've tried Greek Marina and also my favorite, Olive Tree. I can't get over how great Olive Tree's hummus is. There's just nowhere like it!! Over the weekend, the 2012 Hawaii's Best of the Best came out in the paper, and The Fat Greek won 1st place. I knew it was going to be the next place I ate at!

After trying a few dishes at The Fat Greek, my heart stays forever true to Olive Tree. Everything I've tried at Olive Tree is amazing, from their Dolmas to their Egg Lemon Soup and of course, their hummus! The only thing I really enjoyed at The Fat Greek was their Lamb/Beef Gyro! Amazing. Much, much better than Olive Tree! Very tender and ultra-flavorful. I didn't care for either places' Falafel. That fell short for me. But that just means I'll have to visit the new Falafel King that just opened on King Street!

Parking was easy- Park in their teeeeeeny tiny lot, or across the street in the gravel lot by City Mill for $5.

I liked the atmosphere a lot. BYOB, plus the outside seating is super casual and comfortable with the cool night air.

More Foodie Fare for June!

One of my new go-to lunches from Sushi Man- Rice topped with spicy ahi and bits of crunchy shrimp tempura. The crunchy top really adds to the usual spicy ahi over rice. Amazing! Crunch Don!

Strawberries, apples, pears and bananas!

Oxtail Stew on the stove!
Sweetened Green Tea Lemonade with Thai Walls. "Thai Walls" just means they squirt condensed milk on the walls of your cup. Makes for a creamy drink!

A night out at Pint + Jigger, sippin' a Mango Mint Cocktail

One of the Specials on the menu at Harbor Village- Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk. AMAZING.

Father's Day BBQ about to commence!

Had to end with this :)

Mitch's

I had the luxury of going to Mitch's for Father's Day. Now, this place, folks, is where you come for top notch sushi. Sushi that you can't find at your usual Sushi restaurants. Everything is fresh fresh fresh, and very very very expensive. You can easily spend over $200 on two people. Thankfully, for us three, we held back just a bit. I regret not ordering the specialty lobster sashimi, though! This is what they're known for! That will have to be ordered another time...sometime soon I hope!

I'm glad we went right when they opened for lunch at 1130am, because parking is horrible!! Mitch's is located in the industrial area by the Airport, and parking is definitely difficult to find if the few spaces in the front of the restaurant are already filled.

Kanpachi (Amberjack), Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper) and Shima Aji (Japan Papio), Salmon, and Ankimo (Monkfish Liver)

One of my faves- Ankimo. So creamy and delicious here.

Lobster Van Van- Lobster Dynamite

$40 worth of Toro

Look at that marbling!

To end- some of our faves- Tekka maki, Unagi, Ikura, and Taco

Shrimp Miso Soup since we couldn't get the Lobster Miso Soup!

Pint + Jigger UPDATED!

I've gone back to Pint + Jigger twice in two weeks. Yep, I love it that much. Just a super fun place to chill. Btw, it is the "in" place to go now. More people are hearing about it. It is definitely becoming a Pau Hana place to come after work, especially with the number of bottled beers and beers on tap.

Still have yet to try their Pigs in a Blanket, but I got the chance to try their Applewood Smoked Double-Cut Bacon. Definitely delicious with the spicy fresh corn salsa to top it off! As far as drinks, I've now tried their "Best" Margarita, Lilikoi Mule and their Mango Mint Cocktail- honestly, all really tasty.

Mango Mint Cocktail- love the bits of mint scattered throughout!

Tuesday Farmer's Market at KCC

I've posted about the Saturday KCC Farmer's Market here, but I'm happy to say that there is a new Tuesday KCC Farmer's Market! This pilot Farmer's Market will be here from June 12-August 14. Show up, because this is only a trial period! It's designed to be a smaller market for a more leisurely pace and dinner from 4-7pm. Although it is smaller, there are a lot of food booths that are not typically at the Saturday Market, and many many fresh produce and flower/plant booths to suit your needs. A very relaxing place to come after work!

Mochi made with okinawan sweet potato, edamame (soybeans), and taro. It's made fried tempura style topped with furikake.

Interesting, but pretty heavy.

My favorite taco place- Zaratez! See original post here.

Harbor Village Cuisine (Hawaii Kai)

Our tradition every Sunday is to go to Harbor Village Cuisine for Dim Sum. We love that they're open til 3pm, because Mom and I love getting up late on weekends! They are known for their Garlic and Chili Dungeness Crab or their Lobster, but we have not had the chance to try it yet! We can never pass up their dim sum menu. It's limited (not as many choices as Legends in Chinese Cultural Plaza), but every dish is very flavorful and delicious. No MSG either! Even the most simple Siu Mai dish is ever so tasty.

You also get 10% off if you let them know you're Kama'aina!

Moena Café UPDATED!

Moena Café in Hawaii Kai has now opened! Check out my original post here, and see below for more deliciousness when I dined there with my Mom!

PS- Still have not tried their Short Rib Loco Moco, because I can never pass up their ono Eggs Benedict.

Eggs Benedict with smoked ham and the most thick and buttery Hollandaise sauce ever. BUT, it's very light in flavor, not overpowering in the least.

Corn Beef Hash and over-medium eggs

I love the lights!
The comfiest chairs. They definitely made it a priority to make this restaurant clean and comfortable.

Simplistic and fun décor
