Ethel's Grill

It's been awhile since the time we were going to Ethel's every week, once a week. But, the place and food have not changed! My parents and I went back a few days ago on a Thursday and were amazed at how many tables were open, plus there were parking spaces in the back! Very unusual! Usually, street parking is such a pain in that area. Thankfully, we parked, walked right in, and were seated immediately. No need the menu, we know the owners well, not to mention, we usually just pick from their daily specials. Anything hanging up is always delicious (you'll see what I mean by the pictures below).

What's great here are the prices. Very reasonable and the food fills you up. Any meal comes with salad, miso soup (with egg drop! The best part!!), and a fruit punch or iced tea.

I recommend avoiding peak hours because the place is small, and you will probably have to wait for a table. Another recommendation- YOU MUST ORDER THE AHI TATAKI. This is what they're known for, and it is simply amazing every time. And for $5, how can you go wrong? You can't. There's just something about melt-in-your-mouth, tender, seared ahi with an amazing shoyu sauce, thin garlic chips and some warabi fern. I'd come here just for this. And trust me, almost everyone does.

Tables are most often taken!

  1. This place looks really good, I can't wait to try it. I love the miso soup shot with the steam. Nice! You got so many great posts!!!!!!

  2. Just discovering your blog (through IG I think), and its really making me want to blog again. Especially this post. I havent been to ethels in far too long. I will definitely be making a trip soon thanks to this post. And probably checking out some of your other recommendations.

    Mahalo for the reminder.

  3. A top isn't required with the immediate grilling and your warming zones. Again this is for cooking more slender cuts of meat, burgers, fish, and vegetables. Speedier cooking food sources. plynové grily
