I heart Roy's

I've always loved Roy's, and it's always a treat to go there for a special occasion or a party. We always have the usual short ribs, meatloaf or Opah. Those are always great choices, but these dishes that I will list, are my absolute favorites.

Frying Dragon Roll! My favorite!!!

A close-up of Frying Dragon- Unagi, Mac nuts, Roy's Butterfish. Crunchy and delicious!!!

A trio of Hamachi, Salmon, Maguro. Each with a shiso leaf- minty and refreshing!

Hamachi Crudo- another delicious dish.
So tender it melts in your mouth!

Salmon Dynamite Roll

Triple Play Roll- Hamachi, Smoked Salmon with Shrimp Tempura

I also have to add that ALL of the sauces for the dishes are AMAZING. They all have such depth and really compliment the main dish well.

Next up, FASHION!
I am such a big fan of stripes, and as you can see from previous posts, I always seem to pick up a striped top, jacket or skirt!

I love the balance of this outfit- the loose flowy top pairs nicely with a body-hugging skirt.

Hamura's on Kauai

If you are on Kauai, you must eat Hamura's Saimin, no matter if it is sweltering hot or what. Hamura's Saimin is located in Lihue, and is definitely a cheap eat for all the food you get. It really is a value. Two days in a row, both Dad and I couldn't finish our saimins! They are also known for their Lilikoi Pie and also their BBQ Chicken sticks! Everyone, and I mean, everyone, orders a saimin with a side or two of chicken sticks. Another hit- their manapua! The last day we were there, people stopped by just to order dozens of manapua to go. We had to try, so we bought 3 to take home. Thank god we had ordered it early, because by 12 noon, there were only 4 left!! That is how popular it is!

Ready to EAT!

Kauai's Gourmet Market

I spent a couple days on Kauai with Dad doing some business. Aside from Dad's "Type A" personality, he actually settled down to have some pleasure time. After work, we headed to Kauai's Gourmet Market in Kukuiula Shopping Center. It happens every Wednesday from 4-6pm. They host everything from gourmet cupcakes to korean food to a beer garden to fresh-grown veggies.

Valentine's Night

All I'm going to say about "Vday" as I like to call it, is that it was nothing short of perfection.

Dinner was reserved for Soul De Cuba in the heart of downtown on Bethel Street, right across from the Hawaii Theatre. We only had 2 dishes which was more than enough for both of us to share. I picked their famous "Beef Empanadas," which were tasty, light and flaky. It was filled with beef and mushrooms and also something sweet we couldn't put our finger on. I rate it a B+. Our main and most outstanding dish was this Oxtail entree. IT WAS DELICIOUS. It was the most tender and juicy Oxtail I have ever had. I would go back JUST for this! The dish came displayed with 2 oxtail on a bed of rice with all the juice soaked in at the bottom, with a side of black beans and 2 pieces of plantains. It was heaven! A definite MUST-TRY.

Oh, I also forgot to add that their Mojitos are supposedly "the best on the island," so of course, as a Mojito-lover, I had to try it! I must say I do love Ichiriki Loft's Lychee Mojitos, but Soul De Cubas' Mojitos were just as refreshing. It had the right balance of sweet, minty and fizzy. What's an added bonus is you can also order a Mojito PITCHER for as many as 6 people! As someone once said to me, "sounds like trouble." Haha! I also saw many people ordering Sangria, which I really want to try next time! I'll definitely be back!

If You Want To Impress A Girl...

Take her to the Contemporary Museum!

I admit I'm not the most artsiest person in any way, shape or form, though I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the museum and the grounds. A ton of hidden treasures that you just have to go there and see for yourself!

And surprise, surprise, this is also a FOOD post! The Contemporary Museum has a super cute little cafe. Lots of soups, salads, sandwiches to choose from- all very healthy and natural. I've heard that some of the veggies and fruits is directly from their own garden! Another super cute idea- you can ask for a picnic lunch- they give you lauhala mats, a cute picnic basket with all your food in it, and you can go picnic around outside. Trust me, you'll impress any girl :))

throw my hand on a blade for ya,
I'd jump in front of a train for ya,
You know I'd do anything for ya."
